Eagles vs. Commanders Postgame Show, Week 16
Week 16 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2024-2025 season is now in the books as they lose their third game of the season to the Washington Commanders down in Landover, MD by a score of 36-33. The Eagles are now 12-3 on the season. While they are still first in the NFC East division, they have not yet clinched it.
The biggest theme coming out from this game was Jalen Hurts exiting in the first quarter with a concussion. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett came into the game and produced mixed results. Not great, not terrible. Just meh. Without Hurts being in the game, it showed us how valuable he also is to the rushing attack and what Saquon Barkley has been able to do game after game. Although Saquon Barkley ran for 150 yards in this game, and now has 1,838 yards on the season, he still had a tough time rushing the ball without the presence of Hurts. Two key drops from Barkley and WR DeVonta Smith were critical at the end of the game as well.
Vic Fangio’s defense had a rough afternoon as the injury bug was hitting his unit. Plus, C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected in the second half after receiving his second unsportsmanlike penalty. The linebacker play was phenomenal per usual, but the defense overall was gassed by the fourth quarter.
As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, and then graded each unit on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching staff.
It was great to have our friend of the pod Matt Rogers from The Honorable Mention Podcast join us this week for our analysis.
