A Phillies Odyssey (PST Show #445)

This week, what we're throwing down on the Table is a fantastic discussion with author Dave Rueter (@wheresbenrivera) who penned the book, "A Phillies Odyssey: Exploring the Forgotten Players of Fighting Yesteryear." We talked about those players who weren't all-stars, but made significant impacts on our lives growing up as Phillies fans. It was a fun discussion!

But first, as the Eagles head to the playoffs, we discussed which aspects of this Birds' team developed the best and worst this season. (approx. 4:15)

Then we gave our thoughts on how this Philadelphia 76ers team won 7 games in a row, and whether they have the wherewithal to continue winning as tougher games are upon them. Plus, recent reports indicate a Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris trade package is possible before the February 10th trade deadline. (approx. 21:35)

From there, we dove into some baseball talk. First, how critical this new collective bargaining agreement will be between MLB and the Players Union as it pertains to the relevance of baseball for years to come. We also discussed Phillies players that meant so much to us growing up as kids, players who weren't big names, but meant a lot to us. (approx. 34:05)

What we threw down on the Table was a great discussion with Dave Rueter who wrote "A Phillies Odyssey." They Phillies players he wrote about weren't "big names" but had an impact on the Phillies organization and especially the fan base. We asked Dave what he hopes readers will get out of his book, and what stories of players' really stuck with him. We also had a fun discussion of Randy Wolf's "Wolfpack" and how they'd be an incredible force in today's sports environment. All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 48:05)
