The Philadelphia Eagles feel pretty confident about the way they drafted in 2015. After missing out on the playoffs, they knew they had some positions to address. Now that they have the guys they want, it is all about fitting in as early as this year. Even though training camp just started, here is a look at two rookies who could make a big impact this season.
Taking a wide receiver in the first round usually means you are ready to give them a shot as a rookie. That will be the case for Agholor, as he will basically be asked to replace the production of Jeremy Maclin. While he probably won’t be able to do that himself, expectations are high for the former USC standout. Developing a relationship with Sam Bradford is the first step, and that seems to be coming along nicely. Now he just needs to adjust to the NFL game and keep everything in perspective as a rookie. He certainly has potential to explode this year, as he is a trendy pick for Offensive Rookie of the Year as well as a sleeper on fantasy football teams.
In the second round, Philadelphia addressed the cornerback position by going after Eric Rowe. They moved up in the draft to get him, so obviously the coaching staff is happy with what he brings to the table. He is an outside cornerback for now, with a chance to move to safety in the future. Philadelphia is basically doing whatever possible to get him on the field right away, as it is a learning process. He might not be a huge standout in his first year, but he helps to improve the defense for the Eagles overall.
Philadelphia knows they are going to be scrutinized quite a bit after making so many moves during the summer. The NFL is waiting to see if Chip Kelly is a genius, or someone who is acting a bit too crazy with moves. Right now, at least his first two picks in the 2015 draft look solid.
