Week 8 of the 2014 Eagles season is now in the books, and unfortunately it came with a loss out in Arizona against a Cardinals team (6-1) that is now considered one of the top in the league. Even though the Eagles have fallen to 5-2 after this 24-20 loss, they are still a contender for the division as there’s a lot more football to play.
The season is just about at its halfway point. The running game this week seemed to take a backseat to the passing attack where QB Nick Foles threw the ball 62 times. WR Jeremy Maclin is proving why the Eagles should re-sign him after only getting a 1-year deal from the team before this season began. He hauled in two touchdowns and caught 12 balls for 187 yards.
The defensive front played well, but not well enough as QB Carson Palmer wasn’t sacked once. The Eagles secondary certainly had a rough game as they gave up 329 receiving yards to an aged WR Larry Fitzgerald and newcomer WR John Brown.
It’s now onto the Houston Texans, next week’s game.
