The Phillies Need Some Offense Out Of The Gate! (PST Episode 561)

The Philadelphia Phillies 2024 regular season has started and it hasn’t been the greatest by any stretch of the imagination. They need some get some offense going if they’re going to remain competitive in the National League. This week, Tim Kelly from PhilliesNation.com joined us for a discussion about what we’ve been seeing early this season, and how this team can get into an offensive groove.

But first, we responded to some listener feedback about watching a Phillies game in Washington, DC and Wayne Simmonds’ upcoming retirement ceremony. (approx. 5:15)

We then diverted from sports for a brief moment to talk about our guilty pleasures as of late. (approx. 13:00)

From there, we dove into what the NCAA Women’s Basketball Finals meant to us, the sport, and women’s athletics overall. (approx. 25:10)

We then moved along and gave out thoughts about how the Sixers, and Joel Embiid in particular, have been performing. We have high hopes! (approx. 32:55)

We then talked about a compelling and interesting thread on Twitter/X from Josh Gessner, a minor league baseball player initially signed by the Phillies back in 2019 - and he hasn’t played in one MLB game yet. His storytelling was great! (approx. 41:00)

What we threw down on the Table this week was an in-depth discussion and interview with Tim Kelly from Phillies Nation about the start of this Phillies season. When will we see more offense with all of this power? What has been the most surprising aspect of the season thus far? What will they do with Spencer Turnbull when Taijuan Walker returns? Plus much more within this discussion! (approx. 59:20)
